In my long life, I received no greater gift or any more free than when I received the knowledge that I could be born again. There are lots of us who feel, at one time or another, like we would like to step off this planet. We think to ourselves, “I have no purpose and nothing to live for.” When we were born into the world we inherited sin. God created us with a purpose, yet the sin in our flesh presents a stumbling block to fulfilling that purpose. We are aware of that purpose and we try everything in our own power to reach it. People speak of tolerance, self-esteem, rights, and choice, however, if it were not for the mercy of God, our Creator, we would not have a choice. He formed the world, for His children and gave them a real choice. It is a blissful eternal life or death for eternity. This life is temporary (maybe 70-80 years). We must choose how and where we spend eternity. This article explains briefly how to be reborn, out of sin and death, into eternal life. Be Born Again.
The question given to many people is, “Are you a good person?” The majority of people today answer by saying, “Oh yes, I am a very good person.” This is a matter of ignorance. The Bible tells us, “For all have sinned, an come short of the glory of God.” Take the ten commandment test. Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever committed adultery? If we look into the mirror of God’s Law, we fail because we are sinners from birth. “But, I have never committed adultery or murder!” With God, these are heart things. “Whosoever looks upon another person with lust, has already committed adultery in his heart.” “If you hate your brother, you are a murderer [in your heart].”
God tells us, in His Word, “Be holy for I am holy.” He reveals that, “The wages of sin is death.” If you went before a judge for breaking the law, he would look at the evidence of whether or not you were guilty. If you were found guilty, you would receive the penalty for what you have done. God is merciful, but He is also just. Justice demands a penalty for breaking the law. You are a sinner and there is no escaping that. What could we do to escape that penalty, when the judge or God is being just?
God’s justice demands that justice be done. However, God finds justice served when there is a sacrifice for the breaking of His Law. We can see God’s mercy, not ignoring justice, in this short illustration: You break the law, are taken before the judge, and are sentenced to pay the penalty of several million dollars or life in prison (no parole]. You can’t pay, so the judge proceeds to pronounce the penalty, and all of a sudden, the bailiff approaches the Judge with an envelop from someone. The judge tells you to rise and looks you right in the eyes, piercing your soul, and says, “Paid in full. You are free.” When there was nothing you could say or do on your own behalf, having been found guilty, someone paid the price for you. That is how it is with salvation. The Bible tells us, “For the wages of sin is death, but the Gift of God is eternal life.”
Jesus died on the cross, was buried and rose again, victorious over sin, Hell and the grave. The Scripture says, “But God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” He did not wait until we were perfect; we are sinners and there is nothing we can do of ourselves to set us free from sin and death. Christ the Judge, stepped into our condemned, messed up, hopeless life and offered us freedom from it and its penalty.
So how do we accept and receive this free gift of life over death? Jesus is able and willing to save you from your sin condition. His Word explains, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” God wants you to believe His Word and receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. Rather than serving the master of sin that leads to sin and death, He asks you to come to Him and serve the only One Who can give you a new life, free from sin and death and will never let you down. Only a fool would turn down such an offer to be born again.
All one must do to be born again is to say this simple prayer: “Dear Lord, I know that Jesus died on the cross as a sacrifice for my sins. Please forgive me for sinning against you, come into my heart and soul right now and save me. Send the Holy Spirit to take charge of my heart that He may guide me in all truth and give me peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.” God Bless you! It is wonderful to know that Jesus is your Saviour, your sin is forgiven and Heaven is your home.
